FaceTime Photo Prank refers to a series of TikTik prank videos that went viral on both TikTok and Twitter in early August 2020. The videos implement a FaceTime Snapchat filter to add an odd or funny photo of a person to trick others into talking to them.
On June 14th, 2020, TikToker ayumilashley uploaded the earliest known FaceTime photo prank video pretending that Snoop Dogg was her child’s “auntie” (shown below). The video gained over 19,300 likes in a month.
On July 16th, 2020, TikToker catgk uploaded a variation on the prank trying to convince her father that the photo was of her friend (shown below, left). The video accumulated over 25,500 likes in three weeks. That same day, TikToker rosiegrahamm used the prank to convince her mother that she was dating an older man in a video that garnered over 159,100 likes in thee weeks (shown below, center). On July 30th, TikToker missylanning pulled the prank on her son in a video that acquired over 131,200 likes in six days (shown below, right).
